Superior Graphite utilizes several advanced technologies to develop or influence the physical and chemical properties of a wide variety of graphite and carbonaceous materials. We make these technologies available to business partners on a contract basis. These technologies include:
Superior Graphite’s unique technology for high-temperature treatment of carbonaceous materials is based on a resistant-heated fluidized bed. This Electro-Thermal continuous process is used to consistently treat and/or purify granulate calcined petroleum coke, natural flake and synthetic graphite and other carbonaceous materials at temperatures approaching 3000°C. We also offer toll thermal treatment using this unique technology to third parties for purification or microstructure modification.
Milling and Sizing
Superior Graphite operates milling, grinding, and classifying equipment to provide our products in the particle size and morphology required by different applications. These range from smooth roll crushing, through air jet milling to attrition milling for product size ranges from around 1000 microns down to 1 micron. We offer toll sizing technologies to interested third parties.
The choice of which technology to utilize depends on the type of natural or synthetic graphite, and cokes or carbons to be treated, as well as the requirements of the targeted customer application regarding particle size distribution, shape and morphology. We also specialize in producing sub-micron sizes of silicon carbide.
