Superior Graphite seeks a Design Engineer in Chicago, IL (& Other U.S. locations as needed)
Proactively work with the engineering and R&D staff to design and prepare electronic sketches, drawings and other technical documents within the governing project(s), program(s) and procedure(s). Work with contractors, fabricators and estimators to oversee and ensure the construction/fabrication, delivery, installation and startup of fluidized bed reactors and ancillary equipment is done to the proper specifications on the drawings, sketches and other technical documents developed. Lead in the design and development of systems and components for fluidized bed reactors. Interface with engineering & R&D staff effectively to ensure the form, fit and function of designs while also working with fabrication contractors to ensure cost effectiveness and manufacturability of designs. Collaborate with the engineering & R&D staff effectively to ensure the form, fit and functions of designs while also working with fabrication contractors to ensure cost effectiveness and manufacturability of designs. Originate with the engineering & R&D staff to produce design sketches and drawings in accordance with applicable standards. Accurately incorporate welding symbols and tolerances into design drawings. Review and verify design drawings and other technical documentation prepared by others to ensure correctness and accuracy in form, fit and function.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field plus 5 years’ experience. Requires 5 years’ experience with design, automated drafting and 3-D Modeling CAD systems. 5 years’ experience with engineering and design principles including but not limited to: Heat Transfer, Strength of Materials, Structural Design, Welding. 30% domestic travel to manufacturing sites.
