Alkaline Batteries
Alkaline batteries are a type of primary battery dependent upon the reaction between zinc and manganese dioxide (Zn/MnO2 ). Compared with zinc-carbon batteries of the Leclanché cell or zinc chloride types, alkaline batteries have a higher energy density and longer shelf life, with the same voltage. Alkaline batteries are used in many household items such as MP3 players, digital cameras, remotes, toys, lights, and radios.
How can we help address your challenges?
Issue
MnO2 powder is used as the active material for the positive electrodes in alkaline batteries, but MnO2 is not a conductive material.
Solution
Superior Graphite has specifically developed graphite products with excellent electrical conductivity and high purity as the additives to improve MnO2 electrode electrical conductivity.
Issue
Manufacturing tools wearing out during positive electrode ring manufacturing is one of the major reasons that causes quality and inconsistency issues.
Solution
We have developed graphite products for alkaline battery applications with outstanding lubricity.
Benefits of FormulaBT™
When mixed with MnO2 powder to form the positive electrode/terminal, our FormulaBT™ products:
Improve electrical conductivity
Improve lubricity
Provide chemical stability
Provide the electrode with mechanical stability and integrity
